The XL1 and XL1s are about the only commonly available camcorders that allow simultanelous 4-channel recording. They have two stereo-pair,; i.e., Audio 1 and Audio 2. Audio 1 defaults to the standard MIC input and can be also be set to rcord from the Audio 1 RCA jacks (channels 1 amd 2). If you set the audio record mode for it, you can record to Channels 3 and 4 using the Audio 2 RCA jacks.

You can set the Audio 1 and Audio 2 inputs (as a pair) independent of each other to use line, mic or mic att level inputs. The inputs are unbalanced, so any XLR adaptes would be external; MA-100, MA-200, or what ever suits you.

You can also obtain 4-channel analog playback from the XL1 if that is what you need. Analog output during playback is from the Audio 1 and Audio 2 jacks.
