Simple question. Cant seem to find it on the Canon site.

Yes. See the diagrams on pages 11 and 108 of the manual (you can DL it from the CanonDV web site). The jack is on the right side of the camcorder under the flap between the tape door and the lens.

...and when you're looking for mics with mating connectors, 3.5mm = 1/8" for all practical purposes.
