Macro Lens for GL2?
 

Hi,
I have searched the forum and found a few links here and there, but no clear answer to my question. Please advise! I need to shoot a very close up shot of the inside of a sewing machine...we're talking REALLY close. I was wondering if there is any sort of inexpensive close-up attachment or macro lens that will fit on the GL2...do diopters really get that close? Any help or knowledge would be fantastic...thanks, guys.

Yes a diopter does work - very well. I have two close up lenses, both of which I bought to use with my Canon 814 Super 8 camera for stop motion animation purposes. They both have 58mm threads, and I have used them quite a few times with my XM2 with fantastic results.

I have a diopter with a value of +2 which has a range of about 20-30cm this is perfect for detail, and has absolutely no vignetteing but i cannot utilise the whole zoom range (blurs at around 10x). I also use a 'very tight' close up lens which vignettes on the wide end but I can push it to the the full 20x zoom range on the XM2. At full zoom I do have to get very, very close to the object and the image darkens substantially.

I picked both up at a second hand camera house.

they've added to the line-up since i bought mine (the cheapie), the GL2 only resolves up to +2, in my experience. not sure if that is enough for you, but it's not bad.....

The close-up adapters work well. I've used a +1 and +2 Hoya set with the GL1. For higher quality glass, if you need it, check the Canon 250D-58 or 500D-58
