ME66 Mounting on GL2
 

I'm using a ME66 in a Byerdynamics mount on the hotshoe mount of my GL2. Noticed when I'm zoomed wide open, it (well, the dead cat style wind screen) shows in the top of the frame.

Found that this adaptor will move it just enough to be out of frame.

Works well but doesn't move it quite far enough away for use with the WD58h.

Yup - Been there done that! - You SHOULD try a top mounted light on top of that CANON hot shoe WITH the WD58! Guess what? You get a really nice clean shadow of the ME66 with its "Dead Cat" clearly shadowed-outline ! Absolutey perfect image - really, crystal clear! Now, if anybody doubts the quality of this camera to "shoot" things created in shadow, this should prove way beyond belief, that this camera, above all others, IS the camera for you - yeah? ;-)


Ahem . . sorry for that, one of newer cammy people don't yer know, - thinks the camera should be filming shadows of their own ME66 - tehhh!

Need to come up with a remedy - aint done so yet - maybe a won't!

Get a mini-rover
 

Will solve all of your problems. Even with a big furry windscreen, you won't see the ME-66 at all. Plus, it will get rid of the camera noise. Check out this link http://www.videosmith.com.

Focus Ring?
 

Yup - Saw the "Mini-Rover" about 6 months ago. But then, how do you get your hand to the focus ring?

On my GL-1 the mini-rover mounts just in front of the focus ring. It isn't in the way any more than the flip-out LCD screen is.

I have the mini rover, and use it almost every day. I think it is a very nice tool. It not only helps to steady handhelds, but also adds a little weight to make it more stable.

To address the focus ring issue...
Here is how I hold it when using manual focus. (I have large hands) I will explain this the best I can with words.. if you want pics... let me know, I will be glad to help.

Take the camera by the top handle (with mini rover attached). Hold you left arm out so that the palm of the hand faces straight up. Place the focus ring into your left hand. Rest the mini rover on the left forearm.

Put your right hand under the right side of the camera with the right thumb on top of the zoom rocker, (kind of covering the tape door)with access to the photo button, card-tape switch and the record button.

Keep both arms close to the body for max steadiness.
