8MB card only holds 8 1488 X 1128 pics

I was realy dissapointed with the smart card that makes it possible to grab digital stills with the GL2.

My question which would make up for this is little MB card is : Can u record this size of resolution (1488 X 1128 ) to your dv tape with a click of a button?

Is that the 3 second capture thing i have read about? How do u get it to work? And does that mean i have 60 minutes worth of 1488 X 1128 if i wanted?

Hi Jason,

When stills are recorded to DV tape, they're going to be the same resolution as DV, or 720 x 480. There's no way to change that.

I'm not sure why you're disappointed with the SD card and its ability to record 1488 x 1128 stills. Are you referring to the low capacity of the included 8 MB card? That's just a little freebie that's included with the GL2 to get you started. If you're serious about recording high-res stills to the SD card, then you're going to need a higher capacity card. If I were you, I'd get at least a 128 MB card. They're pretty easy to find; some good deals through Amazon. Or a 256 MB card; that would be better yet. Hope this helps,

256MB SD card for under $50

Jason,

You can get the 256MB Secure Digital card from Lexar from buy.com for only $47.99 (after rebate). That should be able to hold about 250 stills in the highest resolution of GL-2 stills. You can get this at

http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10330513&loc=101

I got one and it works great with GL-2.

Yes, the 8 MB card is pathetic. Luckily I bought a MultiMediaCard for my broken MP3 player and now it is going into use.
