FS-4, 6, or more for the GL2

Has anyone had the opportunity (read: budget) to utilize the FireStore line of firewire drives with their GL2? I like the concept and the design, but is it really worth the investment?

I am still trying to figure out their pricing structure too. I guess it is what the market will bear, but the difference you go up in price for what is really just a different hard drive size with the same hardware seems a little steep.

I guess it would be the only way to truly avoid the tape error in the GL2.

Yes!

3 GL-2s and 3 FS-4s and nary a slip that was not operator error. I love the combination. I have not used a tape in nearly 9 months now.

Hello

Yes I have been using an FS-4 and a GL2 for a year and a half now. Worked flawlessly and I love not having to capture tapes.

Add one more vote. I'm really new at all this, but was able to get the FS-4 to work just fine with the GL-2.

By setting the FS-4 to tapeless, and the GL-2 DV control on, the FS-4 responds to the GL-2 on button and works just fine without tape.

I think the standard FS-4 is the cheapest of the bunch. 40GB should hold close to 3 hours of video.

it also works just fine when the GL-2 is controlled by a remote like the Manfrotto. Push the button on the remote and you're recording to disk.

Piece of cake.
