Vertical Shadow stripe

Hi,

I am one month proud owner of a HV20 - Pal version. I shoot some footage as soon I got the camera, but due to hollydays, I had the camera on "rest" for 3 weeks. Today I went to do some shooting and realize that the camera is recording (also on viewfinder and on the LCD screen) a black vertical shadow (like a stripe) at the left side. I thought it was the lens but after cleaning the lens with compress air, realize that the stripe still there.

I tried different settings, different lights and color backgrounds and it's still there. I think it's some electronic interference. Did anyone had this problem before? Any suggestions?

Nuno

This sounds like it could be like what my Canon HV20 had - mine is being repaired under warranty. I had a vertical Red/Black line on the image after two months of ownership. You read about my findings here:

We can all help more if you post a picture for us to view.

Please see some clips here:

Look at left side for the grey stripe on the footage.
Is different from what I found on yours.

Thanks.

I tried 3 different methods to download your video file, each time it didn't work - zero bytes of data. Did it upload properly to your .mac account?

That's very weird looking - nothing like HV20s problem. Take that camera back quickly.. record some footage first for proof (looks like you already have). I have no idea what it is, but if I was asked, I'd say it's an optical defect.. odd!
