I have had significant problems capturing with Cineform HDLink on Vista; Cineform is aware of the issue and are working on it. There are semi-reliable workarounds. Cineform attributes it to something unusual about Microsoft's Vista firewire driver.

Unfortunately, I got Cineform at about the same time as I got my Vista system, so I don't have a wide amound of experience using Sony Vegas' built-in HDV capture functionality, but I don't recall any problems using Vegas from the few times I used it in Vista (once, maybe twice).

Try using HDVsplit for the capture.... it works great...

And if your using Cineform... I thought they had fixed the issue with Vista
as far as capture...

but if you want/need to just capture with HDVsplit and then run cineform to convert the files from your hard drive...
