critique my video: HFG10 by night
this is a quick test assembling clips I shot over a few nights going back home from work.
all hand-held heavily graded with MBL and edited with Vegas 11 (using handbrake) (actually only a few bits like the first few seconds are slightly slowed down) I think it came out a bit too dark Fed soho by night.mp4 - YouTube |

Het Federico.
It would be far more interesting to see the clip in colour/ungraded. It would show how the camera coped with colour in adverse lighting. Exposure looks ok |
Re: critique my video: HFG10 by night
I very much like the street scenes near the beginning. The lack of grain in those shots is what drew me to the cameras, I love them.
There were shots later on that I personally would've cut out or shortened, but hey, it's your video, and I too am still learning, so who am I too judge? Overall I think you could cut it down by half or so, and you might like it better, I couldn't sit through the whole thing, too long. Learning what to cut out is very difficult, and the hardest part of editing. We become attached to our shots and it's tough to let them go. I know this from firsthand experience and still struggle with it, but not as much as I used to. Anyway, keep up the good work, well done! |

Federico,
Some of those clips blew me away with their clarity! What settings were you using? Cheers. |

hi Geoff
I think I was in full manual all the time. please consider that all clips are heavily graded with MBL still it looks good isn't it? not so happy about the stabilization of the G10 though...could be better |
Re: critique my video: HFG10 by night
I'm very happy with stabilisation so far.... haven't pressed the Powered IS button yet though :-)
