Any UK date and Price?
 

Canon UK have the press release up on the HV10 quoting September but no details or specs on the camcorder site as yet.
Best myself and a dealer have got so far from Canon UK, once we have found someone that even knows about it's existence is 'No idea of when or how much, but can't see it being available before Nov' -???!!!
Anyone this side of the pond have some better inside info on the UK position?

Thanks for Link, still picking myself up from the floor, is that really true £1,299 v $1,299 ??? - how many are they going to import?- just one for the Showroom at HO?

I find it hard to believe that those prices will hold, when the units arrive and start shipping more realistic prices will show up, I would think and this is just a guess it will be more in the 800-900 pounds sterling range

Looks like Canon Know they have something special here,
Let's hope it lives up to the hype, I still want one but it's going to have to be a major improvement over the Sony HC3 at that price point.

$1299 is equivalent to .... GBP 681 at current rates (1GBP = 1.9USD) !!!

Really quite incredible the gall of the pricing for UK&European markets.

Well part of it is VAT or sales tax. But the rest is just market skimming. In Europe the high def fans are more upmarket than in the states as HD has not become mainstream in Europe yet (apart from everyone buying HD ready devices, there is pretty little HD to watch). Must be the higher native resolution of the PAL standard ;-)

Ah but they have sales tax in rest of world as well. Admittedly not the stupid 17.5% in UK..

Yet, US prices are - as far as I know - usually quoted without as not every state in the US levies a sales tax (and also percentages vary).

B & H has just listed the HV10 at $1499...

Because Canon don't make any camcorders in Europe I think they get hit by EU anti-dumping tariffs which can be severe.

It's $1299.

Then it's been changed - I looked at it three different times @ $1499

Neither does Sony make any camcorders in Europe....

It's disappeared off my German site now, which is odd.

I have an HDTV that autoswitches PAL/NTSC; an HD network Media Player that outputs NTSC/PAL, and of course an NLE can output either, so is there anything to stop me in the UK buying and using a US model from B&H and saving some cash?

EDIT: OK, I found out. I'll get flickering on indoor shots under lights. 50Hz:60Hz

Plus you will usually have to pay a nasty little charge to customs (import tariffs + VAT).

On the topic of price difference, I think the anti dumping regulation may be a reason. Although it is stupid, there isn't really any European consumer cam producer to protect.

May the WTO succeed in bringing the evil video cam tariffs down ;-)

I'd suggest a flight to NYC but at present it's maybe not a good idea. :o

thats very odd ! Either B&H made a mistake in their pricing or it WAS intended to be $1499 and then Canon or B&H decided that was too high?

The duty in to the UK for a camcorder that can record via inputs other than the lens, is 14% and then you have vat at 17.5%
Back in the days of no dv in on camcorders this stuff was a major topic of discussion, the duty was placed to protect the eu vcr industry ???

IF the eu version does have the analog in recording ability, then it would be classed as a vcr. BTW Sony does make some high end broadcast camerals in wales Some of the broadcast stuff is subject to 103percent duty, which is why Sony did it (THOMPSON was very effective in getting duty protectin for themselves )

The HV10 is now listed on one swedish site at the price of 12795 SEK, that is about 1782 USD, hehe. That is including our lovely 25% Sales tax.

The HC3 is listed at 14995 SEK at that site which is quite high (can be found for around 12000 SEK at other swedish stores), so I am guessing that is the MSRP.
I can't wait to see some footage from that cam, hehe.

Had a look at that German link. I think "Sofort lieferbar" has be to be a bit optimistic.

I would love to take them for their "sofort lieferbar" promise ;-)

That kind of place lets you order and then sends you an email telling you three or four weeks' delay. Good way to build up money in their bank account.

Prices in Switzerland start as low as CHF 1580.00 with 7.6% sales tax included.
That would be about EUR 1013.00 or £ 684.00.

I have checked a couple of those sites. One will only deliver to Switzerland, and the other thoughtfully adds Liechtenstein, which is nice.

Just to let everyone know, in the US, the list price is $1499 and the MAP is $1299.
