Think I'd be ok to switch tape brands after only 2 tapes?

I have read here from several of you about not switching brands of tapes.

My dilemma is this:

I bought two Sony HD tapes and they worked great, but they are too expensive. I just bought two 5 packs of Panasonics DVM60's as they are far more affordable.

Anyway, will my camera be ok if I switch and stick to the Panasonics?

If that would be a bad move I can go with Sony's Premium tapes since they are cheaper (cost wise) as well. I assume all of Sony's tapes are "wet" tapes?

I would appreciate some advice before I fire my camera up with the new tapes.

Thanks!

Yeah, just run a head cleaning tape before you switch brands, you'll be fine.

I'd stick with the Sony Premium tapes. I've been using these for years with different cameras and never had a problem.

Agreed, go with the premiums.

I use premiums and no problems so far :)

Same situation, I have been using Sony HD tapes (very expensive) and have now just bought a 6 pack of cheaper Sony Premium DV tapes.

They came with a free Minin DV head cleaner.

Should I run this cleaner first before using these tapes or should I just stick in a Sony Premium DV tape and go ?

Any input appreciated

Lee

I decided to go with the Sony Premiums since I had already used Sony's HD tapes.

I cleaned the heads and then put in the new Premiums and everything seems fine. No noticeable difference between Hd and premium tapes except the hit on my wallet of course.

I may as well run the headcleaner first then !
