Using HV10 as deck for HV20 / converting "10" to 24P

Can I use HV10 as deck for HV20 shooting in 24p (as you can for A1)?
And if I use HV20 as primary cam in 24P; can I convert HV10 to 24P and intercut w/o loss in quality?
(And intercut that footage with HX A1 24f?)
And a final question. Can Final Cut Studio handle all this, or Adobe Premiere?
Starting a long project I'd like to do in 24P.
Own the HV10, about to buy the HV20 and maybe A1?

First of all, you could definitely use the HV10 as a deck. HV20 records 24p in a 60i stream, so it would be no different than playing back any other 60i video.

To convert HV10 video to 24p, you'll need some additional software such as Magic Bullet, Nattress, or DVFilm Maker. Back when I was on the PC, I had some decent results using the free software Avisynth and the plugin MVTools (requires a little scripting).

Perhaps FCS2 will have some additional features in this department. But in general, just letting an NLE handle the framerate conversion will produce horrible results.

In my opinion, "fake" 24p is not going to intercut well with genuine 24p, no matter what. Even with the best software (and the longest render times), there's something a little different about the motion; it's either skipping frames, or interpolating ghosty-looking frames that never existed. On its own it can look okay, but I think it would stand out when intercut. Someone with more experience in this area may pop in and disagree.

Thank you, Hal, essential question answered!
Tough to make a committment on format at the start of a project
--but it sounds like with image manipulation,
720p/1080i translatable to one or the other during post.
I manipulate color correct, etc. so much in post,
I think the slight variations will cancel out.
