Back to Geoff Question. I hoping "24P" has nothing to do with PsF, can someone with a camera confirm this? This would be a great help. I am planning to buy this camera and use 24P so I would like to know before I buy it.
Per the manual the XA10 does both 24P and 24PF. The PF mode is to ensure compatability with 60i gear. 24/1080P was part of the AVCHD definition prior to summer 2011

The issue seems to be whether or not the NLE correctly sees the video format (i.e., i, P, or PsF) of the clip, or has to be manually set, and how that applies to the NLE(s) you may be using.

It could be something as simple as setting a bit in the file header (anyone know the AVCHD header format?)

You need to decide for yourself whether or not this is a deal-breaking feature for what YOU are shooting/editing. That someone else does not like it may or may not be issue for you.
