Canon XA10 HDMI output

Is there a way to set the output of the HDMI jack to 720P? If so, how?

I don't believe you can. It's 1080i, or 1080p if the [HDMI 1080p Output] option is turned on in the Menu and connected to an HDTV that supports 1080p. Page 148 in the User Manual.
