Using a wireless and a shotgun input to the XLR jacks works fine. An important issue to keep in mind is that if you are using AGC, it will probably effect both channels equally when it adjusts gain (to preserve the stereo image). This may cause unwanted level ducking with independent (not stereo) mic setups

Chuck, that's correct and what people were complaining about. Although you can record to both channels, it's the same level on both, which defeats the purpose, so you need a Y-adapter. The XL series lets you adjust each channel independently without the Y. No big deal for me because all the big cameras I've ever used don't do it either and I have plenty of XLR Y adapters I've made...although, it's about as cheap and a lot easier to buy them from B&H or somebody.
