Another fall test

Hi

The link is for another test short from me. This time 25F (VividRGB) converted to 1280x720 DivX. Abot 140MB, 3 minutes long.

wow... the clarity was excellent... the colors were excellent... overall I thought it was a very good video. The camera jitters in a couple spots caught my eye... but that aside, I thought the footage looked great!

the footage is beautiful - the only trouble is it played slightly squished on my machine - did it play fine for everyone else?

just wondering if the aspect ratio got messed during conversion

Nice shots. I'm not sure if you see this in the origianl footage or not but in the pan up on the stairs with the green rail and on the close ups of the malard ducks there was a lots of pixel movement as thought the HDV codec could not handle the little details or perhaps the sharpness was turned up too much.

This may have been a little too sharp for my tastes - otherwise, a very nice video.

Aspect ratio

Hi

Thanks for your comments. I've checked the decoding and there seems to be some aspect ratio problem. I haven't had time to do the calculations correct. I'll check that out for the next time.

I will not try to defend myself but the cam jitter is there because this was the first day with the XH-A1 and my new Manfrotto 503 head, and it was pretty strong winds. My goal was to have something with me home to try to edit, quantity instead of quality. To be honest, I was a bit impatient and not quite familiar with the equipment!

I also agree that there were a lot of pixel movement sometimes, especially in the grass by the stair. I just checked the CF-settings and sharpness is set to +3. I guess it's a combination of HDV, small moving details and sharpness. The jitter is there while directly playing from the camcorder itself on my 42" plasma and can't be blamed on the DivX codec, so this is an example of the limitations for the HDV codec. I'll try decreasing sharpness the next time.

/Bo
