Trying to Downconvert, but FCP won't recognize A1
 

Hi everyone. I'm desperately trying to figure this out. I've shot HDV and am downcoverting to SD into Final Cut version 5.0.4, but I can't for the life of me get FCP to recognize the camera. I've gotten it to work before, but can't get it to work now, and can't figure out what's different. When I hook up my little cannon optura, I have no problems. I'm guessing it must be some sort of menu setting in the camera, but can't figure it out. Would it matter if I'm using the camera on battery instead of power cord? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated before I pull out all my hair........

Make sure that:

HD Down-Convert is set to 'ON'

PLAYBACK STD Setting is set to 'AUTO' or HDV

My playback STD setting was set to that, but it still didn't work. However, when I quit FCP, and restarted, everything worked fine. So, when all else fails, restart.
