"Neutral" preset for XHA1

Hi,
I'm trying to make a "neutral" preset for my Canon XH-A1, but with little success. I would use it not only for ENG (and so it should be similar to the Sony look) but also for documentaries and so on... but I don't want a "strange" look. Can you suggest something? I have tried the preset made by the German guy of fxsupport.de, but it doesn't seem so "neutral"...

Thanks.
Alex

I feel the default preset is about as neutral as you could get.

And too neutral for my taste, the "panalook" is the one I use all the time.

Already a few times in this forum, but the HV20's 'out of the box look' is what also the A1's standard setting should be. Not too exaggerated, not too colourless, in other words... neutral?

Hi,
I use "AC PREF1" (prefered general setup) by Alister Chapman, had it broadcast on TV and no complaints (nice one Alister!)

It has got a quite evident red shift... in my opinion.

Another vote here for Panalook--it really works well under a wide variety of settings.

panalook doesn't work well indoors--it's not designed to be used indoors. once you start mucking with the presets, i don't think there is one preset that fits all lighting conditions, besides the factory settings....

It would be already a great thing to remove the red shift from the factory settings... when I found the attempt of the German guy of fxsupport.de, who tried to "neutralize" the factory preset using a vectorscope and test charts, I was hoping for the best, but the result doesn't satisfy me.

For the "redshift" you should probably take a look at the "No magenta" preset which has been made to counter that effect.
