Sound sync problem

I have had my A1 since August and have done several projects with no problem until now.

The last project I did was taped over several days (1080i 60f). When I captured the video into FCP, the audio was exactly 5 frames out of sync. I believe I may have accidently changed something in the camera but I cannot track it down. Can anyone help?

The sound source was through the XLR inputs, bot wireless lav and shotgun. Thanks

Wow...anyone have any insight?

I'm going to ask the easy question first:
When you play and watch the source tape in the camera, is the audio off there?

Thanks, Yes it is if I watch the built in LCD and listen to the audio through headphones from the camera.

Are you running the mics through anything, like a mixer, or directly into the XLRs?

Clay K. Carson May 13th, 2008 07:25 AM

No. I had 2 wireless lavs connected straight to the XLR jacks. I keep wondering if there is some obscure setting I changed. I really appreciate your help

If you were using two wireless lavs, I wonder if the delay was in the wireless receiver. It's hard to say without knowing what type of lavs you were using.

Did any of the mic switches get changed, like phantom voltage, mic/att, line/mic, or the channel selectors?

Regardless, you're stuck.

Can't you just separate the audio from the video and shift the audio track to get it in sync?

Clay K. Carson May 16th, 2008 10:21 AM

That is what I did. I just shifted the audio 5 frames forward. Makes it a little clunkier to edit. I just want to figure out why it started happening. The lavs were senheiser G3's. I could have changed some setting by accident but I can't seem to find it.

A1 audio sync

I noticed the same problem shooting HD in 24f. Out of sync both in camera and in Final Cut express.
Used Apple Intermediate codec 1080 setup. No problem in 60i

Strange..no solution yet.

I shoot everything 24F, HD, and have never seen a problem. Could be those specific cameras need service work. I'd get them checked out before the warranty is up.
