iPhone Interference with Audio
Last year I posted about a "random" buzz in my audio recordings of plays.
I had traced and verified that it is iPhones polling for data that were relatively close to me. Anyone every figure out how to shield the shotgun mic or the A1 from this? Asking people to turn off their phones sometimes only gets them in silence mode, which doesn't help. Thanks, Howard |
I think the only solution is to get people to turn off their phones or to move further away.

That is the ultimate solution though it rarely works. But last night shooting a high school play, I actually got them to make an announcement that digital phones interfere with the taping so please turn of phones, not just silence them.
And it worked, at least I didn't get any interference last night. There were a lot of "parents" last night and they wanted a "good" copy of their child on stage, so they complied. When it is just high school students in the audience, it doesn't always work. I sure wish there was a better answer. |
never had the problem with wired mics but wireless, oh yeah. I shut my phone off but most people, well, not so much.
I've never heard of any kind of shield to block it out. Too bad:-( I wish there was. |
I use a wired mic, Rode NTG-2, and it happens a lot.
