audio XLR mono is that right?
 

Hi, I just have a big doubt!
When I put my XLR micro Rode NTG-2, my audio levels display just channel 1, either in Manual or Auto, and I can only listen the left headphone.
Is that right? Is hard to believe that a profesional micro audio input cannot record stereo.

There a switch on the side of the camera, marked CH1 and CH1/CH2. In one position it feeds the mic on Channel 1 only into Channel 1, and in the other it feeds the mic into both channels.

what is each one for?
 

Thanks a lot, in fact is very easy, but still don´t understand what is each option for?

I personally wish that you could plug 2 mics in the 2 different XLR inputs and have both mics be in the right and left side, but their theroy is that if one mic volume is lower than the other you will be stuck with bad audio.

But if you have one mic on channel 1 and another on channel 2 you can adjust the volumes and such individually in post. But you will have to fill the right and left side of each in post as well.

I use a cord splitter and use good headphones to moniter the sound paying attention to the volume levels being equal. It's worked for me great with my MMA interview show and more.

If you connect two rode ntg2 microphones to the XLR sockets you can record in stereo and you will be able to adjust the volume using the two audio dials and you will have to leave the mike channel select switch set to cannel 1. You cannot record in stereo if you only use one mono mike if you use the built in mike on the camera you will record in stereo but I doubt that it will be suitable. If you do use two Rode Ntg2 mikes without using batteries in them don't forget to switch on th 48volt phantom power supply.
