Rome - Amphitheater/Roman Forum edit **HD full quality**
 

Last summer i stayed in Rome for 9 days. It was quite an enjoyable experience for me. While i was there i got some shoots of some of the monuments. please take a look and let me know what you guys think. Im going to be starting film school in the fall and definitely would enjoy some critiquing/ feedback. I hope to shoot and edit for things of this nature since my primary focus right now is on action sports. thanks for taking the time to read this.

I preface this with, IMHO:

Don't ever, and I mean ever, use the zoom on a tracking shot.

I'm tempted to say don't use it ever, full stop, but there are rare occasions when it's SUBTLE use can enhance the effect of the shot.

More completely static shots wouldn't go amiss - hey, it ain't Michael Jackson doing a dance routine, it's a monument, they don't move, so don't make the camera move either.

You lost your best chance to put some life into it with the guy (you?) in the video - if you'd held it and given a monologue, you would have made the sequence come alive.

Watch some of the best of the Beebs (er, BBC's) historical documentaries, to see how they're put together, they are a "gold standard" in documentary making and camera craft.

hey man thanks a whole whole lot for the advice/tips! i understand what you mean about keeping the camera static! im going to go down to san antonio and shoot the alamo in a few weeks! im going to take your advice and run with it, ill post something when i get it completed!! thank you again for all of your insight, it is greatly appreciated!!!
