I'm leaning towards the Porta Brace DVO-1, hope to make a final decision within the next week or so. Both are good brands, good bags. The Porta Brace seems to provide a bit more protection, from what I have been able to determine. I'm still hoping to hear from someone who has handled both bags.

I did end up getting the PortaBrace bag, and I am definitely pleased with it. It has sufficient room in it for my A1, an external mic, a spare battery, the battery charger, extra tapes, a white card (it came with the case), and a few other misc items.

Good call. I've only just found this thread otherwise I would have recommended the PortaBrace straight off. Built like a tank and will outlast your equipment. (also looks good and screams "Look at me I'm a professional". Whereas Petrol sighs "I can't afford PortaBrace").

Be glad this is a video thread, on audio forums, asking a question about which cheap lavaliere to use can end up with a comparison of Neumann and large diaphram studio microphones.

On small city-hoppers, worst case scenario, you take the camcorder out of the bag and put it in the locker wrapped in your jumper.

I've got a Petrol and like it very much. Very sturdy to protect my gear. Movable partitions and a side pocket for little things you don't want to lose. It also is very well made.
