XHA1 problems with dirty/gritty focus ring

Got in a pretty bad sand storm while filming with my XHA1. Unfortunately didn't have a protective cover. I cleaned it as best as possible and it worked fine for a couple weeks after. Now for some reason the focus ring feels very gritty. I'm guessing some sand made it way into it. What do i need to do about getting this fixed? Any idea on cost?

Don't grind it in by turning it anymore .. then try running a vacuum cleaner at the opening in the ring when holding the AI over it. Shake the A1 a tad to loosen any grit while rotating the ring slowly .. it's a 2 person exercise.

Depending on the age of the A1 if you have to send it in to the shop, they can do a full service .. let's know how it pans out and good luck.

Cheers.

tried the vaccum trick. Didn't work. Guess i'm going to send it to canon and hope for the best.
