The av connector (the yellow one) ripped out.. Where to buy one?
Hey guys' do you know where i could purchase the connector itself?
my friend pulled the cable while plugged in, resulted in ripping the whole connector out, need to be fixed by replacing it with a new part. Please help, where to get it? Thanks. |

Hi, Arthur,
Care to share what "ripped the connector out" actually means? Ripped the socket clean out of the camera? Ripped the phono plug off the end of the cable? If it's the former, it's a Canon Service fix and it won't be cheap. If it's the latter, a Yellow sleeved phono plug can be had at any Radio Shack or other electronics retailer for diddly squat. All that is required is a soldering iron and the knowledge to use it and you're sweet. CS |
Re: The av connector (the yellow one) ripped out.. Where to buy one?
Hey Chris, thanks for the reply,
the yellow socket got ripped out, the body is good, i went for a check up to a lab, and the guy said that i need to buy that specific connector somewhere because he doesn't have it. And yeah the cable got ripped at the end (the phono) , but i'm not worried about the cable because i can get it anywhere. is there anyway to get that specific part from them? i don't live in the states. Thanks. |
Re: The av connector (the yellow one) ripped out.. Where to buy one?
Hmm, well, no, I don't have a clue where you could get it, except that it will, in all likelyhood, be a specific Canon part, so could only come from a Canon repair depot.
Not having a clue where you live I can't suggest your nearest depot or tell you whether Canon will supply just that part or a complete I/O board or even whether they will supply anything at all for what is probably a return camera fix. I'd check out your nearest Canon repair facility and shoot them a mail and ask. CS |
Re: The av connector (the yellow one) ripped out.. Where to buy one?
Is that a 4 conductor (composite video, R-audio, L-audio, ground) jack? If so it was it mounted on a PC board, or on wire leads that can be resoldered?
Is it like this? http://www.showmecables.com/viewItem.asp?idproduct=4074 Did it mess up the case where it was mounted when it pulled out? (I would be a bit surprised if it didn't) Try call Canon's parts number, start with their toll-free info number on the back of the manual. |

Re: The av connector (the yellow one) ripped out.. Where to buy one?
The socket is electically equivalent, and I find it difficult tobelieve that it could have pulled out without causing significant damage to the camcorder, unless what pulled out was just the yellow collar and none of ther conducting contacts.
Any chance youcan upload a photo of what pulled out, and that that part for the camcorder case looks like now? |
Re: The av connector (the yellow one) ripped out.. Where to buy one?
Hmmm. Amazing. I'm struggling to figure how that socket could get ripped out without doing serious damage to the case and back end workings of the camera. Would be really helpful to see a photo of the damage.
A vague clue as to where you are on planet earth would also be useful. |
