In some threads I read about the new comming Canon HDV cams to have almost all specs from H-1 but with fixed lens. Fixed what exactly?

The lens looks small. Does anyone know the size?

Its not really the size of the lens, but where you point it that counts.

Sorry, someone had to say it...

LOL

That's not really true anymore, with todays technology, you add a variety of attachments to enhance performance...

Thanks Everyone

Phillip for the comedy and Pete and Peter for the facts. I was concerned that the new Canon A1 would have a small lens like my DVC30. I'm glad to here it is a 72mm like my DVX.

Greg - you say you're 'glad to hear it is a 72 mm like your DVX', but the filter thread has very little bearing on the technical spec of the lens. 72 mm filters and accessory lenses are generally a lot dearer that 58 mm ones, so I contend that 58 mm is a 'better' filter diameter.

Sony's VX2100 has a 58 mm filter thread, yet it has a faster (f/2.4 at tele)lens and a 12x zoom as against Panasonic's 10x zoom that only manages f/2.8.

tom.
