shooting in the rain with G1
Can you suggest settings and good scene plans for shooting with G1, format, shutter speed, dof, likely casts, location, objects.

Hello Kaku,
I wish we had some of that rain here in Texas right now. A tip regarding white balance: for shooting outdoors when it's rainy, the "daylight" setting for white balance may not be very accurate. On the XH cameras it is possible to tweak the factory white balance settings to your particular taste (this capability is in addition to simply performing a manual white balance, or dialing in a specific color temperature in degrees Kelvin). I hope I am remembering the procedure correctly... this is from memory. Go to the "Camera Setup" menu. There should be a "WB Preset Adj." selection. Maybe that's not the correct description but it should be similar. When you select it, you can choose which preset (daylight, tungsten) and adjust it up or down in color temperature by nine or ten steps to suit your preference. Close the menu. 1. On the top of the camera where the flip-out LCD closes, set the WB Preset switch to Daylight. 2. On the lower left side of the camera body, set the AWB switch to Off. 3. Set the White Bal. select switch to Pre. Hope this helps, |
Thanks Chris
I got it in person. It is still rainning hard and it is already dark. I'm going to get used to it and what I would do is to shoot my Japanese garden with uncompressed or shear codec which barlow was talking about through the HDSDI.
I will go through your tips from now with G1. I have a Camette so for the white balance I would use that. |
Cannot wait for this Kaku!
Please some basic 1080i60 m2t from HDV tape as well! Many thanks in advance! |
Rain drops are little lenses, light them from behind to get them to show up better in frame.

Thanks folks, some files should be available soon.
I'm buying A1 for now and G1 next year. |

were these questions for the sample footage you posted earlier?
|
Looks to me like they where. As the sample footage was shot in the rain, after this thread was started. But ask the man himself!
