Ginza night scene
 

May as well drop this in here:

I shot this a few days ago when people were still asking for night stuff, seems a little redundant now, but this small clip is condensed from much larger clips that are all going in to the stock library so no waste for me anyway.

I love this clip. This is so pro. There's a story here. I love Chicago at night but Japan at night simply makes me wish I was there.

Very nice. Mind sharing your settings? You achieved a very good nice, and from the looks of it, low-noise shots. I just picked up the camera today and plan on sitting in front of a 1080i set tomorrow with the camera hooked up and going through a ton of tweaks to learn the camera. I've used a XL-2 for two years so at least I am comfortable, but would still love to see your low light settings and any logic behind your choices. Thanks!

Sorry but couldnt tell you exact fstop and shutter speed, they were rolled around for each scene, but cam settings were:
Gamma: Cine 2
Knee: Low
Black: Middle
Sharpness: - 3
H DTL FREQ: Middle
NR1: Low
COLOR MAT.: Cine 2
COLOR GAIN: 28

Everything was set at 0

EDIT: Gain set at 0

White balance was set in an interior under tungsten light - I thought it gave the shots a nice clean look. When I compare it to the tungsten preset its almost exactly same white balance. The lighting in Ginza naturally has a very white feel so I wanted to retain that.

Was it 24F?

Im not a big fan of the transitions, but I love most of the footage. Downtown night stuff is always great to watch. Would love to see it in HD.

Generally speaking I dont like to use this kind of transition in cinematic stuff, but for the point of demoing some stock footage I think its fine. This is a Graham Nattress transition. Im kind of fond of his filters. Though once again Im not big into filter utilisation on cinematic stuff.

I was in Japan June 2006 and it's the best place to visit. I just wish I had more time to stay in Japan. But the footage of Japan is very nice. Thanks.
