Hi Nathan, I used a variety of settings for all of those clips. Since then I did test just filming the ocean (since we havnt had any waves) and Im thinking of using the -3db preset, it looks real nice and somebody suggested shutter speed at 1/300 so im going to try that out, and try to keep exposure inbetween 4.0 and 5.6.

XHA1 Test in Munich

Hi@all, Im new here but Im sure IŽll like it here.
I just upgraded to XHA1 a week ago and made some shooting in the City.
I used the Canon XM2 before and what can I say? Finally I can make the sky look the way I want it to look like.

john, that clip was great.
your tracking was alot smoother and the shots were all well exposed/set. there was some good surfing in that clip...and im going to be surfing that same south today : )

is makana ola's younger brother?

John Cambell June 9th, 2008 11:44 AM

Some of the filming was good and some filming was bad because we all take turns filming so some people know how and some dont at all. Yes, makana is Olas younger brother.

Great shots man... Awesome video and music...

Morgan Crossley June 10th, 2008 10:09 PM

good stuff man. some great surfing in that clip. those waves look incredibly fun.

looks like there are a couple of us here in this forum who shoot the surf. and we're all in relatively different locations. nice.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but your shooting style just nails this cool Super8/16mm film look. Nice edits too. Get some of your friends together and start shooting a movie!

Thx! In fact I already made some shortfilms and shooting another one this summer.

My Entry in the Flip for Budget Video Contest

I was hesitant to pollute this forum with another example of my work but I wanted to show you guys my entry for the Flip for Budget video contest. I shot it on the A1 using the TrueColor preset. I'm still learning and my work is getting exponentially better after each new project that I shoot so be gentle with my fragile ego :-P

Here you go:

Wolves in Yellowstone

OK, no pretense to this being great video -- except for the subject matter. We were driving through Yellowstone Sunday afternoon and saw what, at first, we thought was a baby black bear curled up near the side of the road. When we stopped, it got up and we quickly saw that it was a young wolf. Almost at the same moment, we saw the momma wolf not far behind it. I grabbed my A1 and just flipped it to AUTO and started shooting. I didn't want to mess with anything at the risk of missing the opportunity.

Anyway, here's the link: http://www.vimeo.com/1190372

There is no audio. It's rendered as a 1280x720 .wmv file.

6 swimmers attempt to swim the length of the Isle of Man.

My first 'real' attempt at a documentary.
