My first try short clip

Hello,

This started out just practicing different shots. (enough for a 30 sec short)
I've been watching all the sample clips and I'm interested in doing some personal story telling myself.
I'm open for comments or suggestions on better production.

I thought it looked great. I liked the combination of shots of the stuff on the table. I liked it. Plus, that guy (you?) looked really...like he had a lot on his mind...

Nice!

Preset Experimentation for Desert Shooting

I plan on doing a considerable amount of shooting in the area around where I live in southern Utah. As a result, I've been working to develop a small collection of presets that will work well for the conditions I will find here.

I'm leaving right now to go shoot some more footage with the two presets I've created based on my testing to date. I will post some of that footage tomorrow, but I thought I would first share with you some stuff I shot last week. The presets I have developed now are hybrids of my "toned-down" version of Steve Dempsey's VIVIDRGB, the NATURALO preset from the original collection on the preset thread, and Paolo Ciccone's recently-posted recommended preset. I like aspects of all of them, and have tried to find a middle ground that incorporates the best qualities of each into one or two preset options. The two presets I have come up with I have named RICHSOFT and WARMSOFT.

So, here is a link to footage I shot using Ciccone's preset and a somewhat modified version of NATURALO. Tomorrow or Friday I will post footage shot in RICHSOFT and WARMSOFT.

When there's too much snow!

I shot this (http://www.vimeo.com/838711) with my Canon XH A1 while at my in-laws. Not much time outside and got only 10 minutes of footage. Tried to put it together so we can remember next summer as to how much snow we got in 2008.

For those of you living in nicer and warmer places... Ok, ok, ok, you can have a pick on us...

Feel free to post comments and suggestions, this is my first clip.

Good job for such a short shoot. I liked the music as well. Looks like a great place to "visit" ;-)

The one with the "color curve" doesn't look very good to my eyes.

Also... were these handheld shots with OIS on? I can't imagine it was. If not... why wasn't it active?

Short clip of Orlando, FL - Lake Eola

I think I may have shot this a little too dark. Here's a short test video I shot in Lake Eola, which is in Orlando, FL.

http://exposureroom.com/members/mako...fa8fb/?em=View

I had the ND filter on, and used Steven Dempsey's Panalook preset on. I think with the combination of the two, it made it a little darker than I'd like. I also find that compressing darker videos tend to pixelate a lot more. What's a good video format and optimal setting for compressing videos that are a bit dark?

I'd like to get some feedback and constructive criticism. I still have a lot to learn and would like to see what I can improve.
