Can someone confirm that this monitor will enable me to monitor an HD signal from the XHA1?

This isn't high definition. This is enough resolution to aid focus for SD, but critical HD focus will not be truly represented on a monitor of this resolution!

So the answer to your question is "no", BUT the real question is whether a 800x480 monitor is "good enough"-- certainly it is a lot better than the built-in tft/viewfinder (both in terms of size and resolution).

ps, you can find monitors intended for car installations made by companies such as Liliput with the same resolution... most such monitors are very low res, but 800x480 ones do exist.

In fairness, other "low rez" monitors of similar resolution do not have component HD inputs. So right there those are limited to ingesting SD signals only. The Marshall that Steve asked about ingests an HD signal and uses some fairly advanced and accurate scaling to map the HD video to the panel's resolution. Every user review I've read indicates that the Marshall allows for critical focus.

I'm all for doing stuff on the cheap, but I have to say in regards to camera mountable LCD units, it appears you really do get what you pay for.
