Not Worried, Just Curious...
 

I noticed this a a bit on other cameras, but just curious for the reason so I can explain it clients.

When I watch 24F footage captured in my NLE (PP2), I notice some horizontal banding, not interlace artifacts, but like half the frame is from the previous frame (Not on interlace line,s but like, a 1/2 screen block).

The artifact isn't there on individual frames, and it doesn't appear during scrubbing, just playback. I assume it has something to do with 24f preview playback, but just curious if there is a way to do away with it (it shows on my external HDTV as well through DVI)

I'm using PP2 with 24F and I haven't seen what you're describing, on screen or on TV output.

Any issues with 30F or 60i?

Have you checked for newer drivers for your video card? Might try playing with the resolution and/or color depth as well.

I have the latest drivrs, and I still see it in some other frame rates. I see it on other comps to.

I'm using FCP and don't see anything at all like that. Mine is looking great.

I believe what you have are minor v-sync issues, otherwise known as tearing.

See if your videocard managment application allows you to manipulate v-sync.

Thia happens alot in the PC world when watching trailers and some video games when the frame rate is not in sync iwth 60hz.

This happens to my system sometimes, and usually i just ignore it. I suppose it woudl make sense that 24f would be more prone to it due to the differneces in refresh rate vs our standard 60hz current.

I see this occassionally too but only on the output to my HDTV. We are both using NVidia cards so this could be the problem. It will not affect your final output but it is a bit annoying.
