Presets and Filters Image Catalog
Heya. Long time lurker and first time poster.
After seeing some incredible footage on this site, I broke down and bought an A1 a few weeks ago. I'm learning the ropes not only as new owner, but as a budding videographer as well. To help give me a better feel for how to shoot video, I've created this PDF to illustrate various presets and how they look with filters (the physical kind, not ones in post :) ) There's 40 or so stills featuring the Panalook, Naturalo, EOS, and Olegwarm presets and how they look with 7-8 filters and the lack thereof. They aren't that great, but it's to serve more as a rough guideline than anything else. Feedback is appreciated. http://www.bipolardave.com/images/filtersandpresets.pdf (Right click and save as, please). |

Thanks for that Dave. Might have to put one of those Tiffen soft FX filters on my next A1 gizmos shopping list. Not so sure about the pro mist though?

From what I've read, they can also be used to correct for blues associated with shooting in the shade. So I'm holding my breath that they will still be a justifiable purchase. My next project will be to repeat the process outside to get an idea for how these same presets and filters look in the sun. |

most of the softening filters don't work that well in the sun because the softening "dots" (don't know the technical term....) get picked up in high light and reflected in your image. this is in outdoors colorado, however, where the sun is fairly intense. may be fine for what oregon calls sun....

Glad to be of help.
I didn't find too many photos on the web illustrating how filters help or harm a shot and thought that I'd resolve that problem as best I could. I'll update it with different locations, lighting changes, and more filters if and when time allows. |
