16x9 won't export in AE

I have it as widescreen 1.2 16x9 and it still exports as 4:3, anyone know why?

It all depends on what codec you are trying to export it with. Some of the codecs don't support anamorphic export. If you are trying to export it as an animation, or other lossless codec, for import into final cut: after you have exported the clip from after effects as an animation, import it into final cut, right click the clip, then go down to item properties, then format, then you have to manually tag the footage to be anamorphic by clicking in the appropriate box, which makes a checkmark next to anamorphic. Oh, and make sure you're working in a widescreen timeline in FCP as well.

Unfortuantely, I have not yet found a way to export from after effects uncompressed and have the .mov end up actually anamorphic (16x9). The DV50 codec is the closest you can get to uncompressed with actual anamorphic export from AE. Most of the others just tag the clip as anamorphic.

Hope this helps!
