Wide angle Lenses for XL2

What kind of adapter do I need for a panasonic wide angle lenses 16:9 to be attached to my xl2?

Scott, could you specify the Panasonic lens better?

Are you talking about a Wide Angle adapter or a lens? A Wide Angle adapter with 72mm threaded mount could fit in front of the 20x lens but be aware that you most often will get a soft picture.
I know this has been discussed in previous threads here in the forum, have you done any search?

As I told you in another thread even a wide lens for DSLR will be a huge telephoto lens by using the ef-adapter which magnify with a factor of 7.8 on the XL2.

The only suitable wide lens I know for the XL2 will be the Canon 3x wide lens: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...arch&Q=*&bhs=t

Scott, I don't think this will be a good choice for you! This is a Anamorphic Lens Adapter read the quote from B&H below:

Quote:

Widescreen Recording
When attached to the AG-DVX100 or the AG-DVC80 the lens adapter will allow for the highest quality 16:9 aspect ratio recording. Higher quality than even the in-camera LETTERBOX or DIGITAL SQUEEZE functions. The converter compresses the horizontal aspect of the image fitting a greater width view onto the CCDs. When viewed on a conventional 4:3 monitor, the image will appear stretched vertically. When viewed on a 16:9 monitor, the image will be a true widescreen picture.

Canon XL2 already record in 16:9 wide, so why would you want to use this adapter then?

I think other adapters will suit you better, I haven't used any, so I will not recommed, maybe someone else will?

Scott - I use the 0.6x Century Optics WA adaptor

http://www.schneideroptics.com/ecomm...=1385&IID=6219

It works very well given what it is - but no replacement for a genuine wide lens.

The 3x has some REAL bad press, so I went for the adaptor instead.
