XLR Audio
I have just made a recording using audio via the XLR connection on the rear of the camera. When recording I monitored the audio via headphones. On playback the audio track can be seen on the meter and heard through the headphones, but I cannot get this to transfer via the firewire output to the computer. It was recorded via the RHS XLR connection. - Channel 2/4.
There must be a playback setting I havent set right. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks. |
Were you recording in 4 ch. mode, or standard 2 ch. mode?

4 channel mode

This is an issue specific to the editing program that you're using. Some NLE applications can capture four-channel audio and some can't. Those that can't require you to make a second capture pass to get channels 3 & 4 into the computer -- often they're done as standalone .wav audio files, but it all depends on your editing program, whatever that is. |

While there are variations on the options now available in simplifying this process depending upon the NLE you are using or the OS you are operating within, historically, the basic settings have generally been default ch 1 / 2 capture, option for ch 3 / 4 capture, and option for a 1/2/3/4 mix in which you capture all tracks but but 1 & 3 are mixed as are 2 & 4 and are no longer independent. Secondary options with the use of added tools may allow you to run a single pass with the standard 1 & 2 tracks being captured with your video, while ch 3 & 4 are captured into a separate stereo track that can be synced up with your other tracks. -Jon |
