Thing is, as much as I hate Sony cameras, I wouldn't be surprised if they made the 4:3 option on their upcoming HS camera (I assume that it will have a 4:3 option) use 1/3" of the chip or at least better than this canon does. I mean, they've taken a 1/3" 4:3 chip and made it something like 1/4" in 4:3.

Nick: keep in mind that 60i is NOT 60 **FULL** frames per second.
It is 60 HALF frames (or fields) per second. So you will at least
loose 50% vertical resolution if you want to play it back two times
as slowly.

Now programs like twixtor can perhaps do a very good job on
interpolation to make the loss minimal as possible, but it is still
there. Whether such a thing would be acceptable to you depends
on your budget (which program you can use), personal preference,
type of shot, output format etc. etc.

Rob yeah, I thought that's what I was saying, Twixtor (to the best of my knowledge is like magic bullet in the since that it merges interlaced lines and then gived you 60 frames in stead of 60 half frames. 60 progressive frames would be 2.5 times longer then 24 progressive frames. so when played back with 24p footage would resemble slow mo, I believe they used that effect on November, it turned out ok but not quite varicam slowmo.
