What do you think the best price will be for the XL2

Im new to this whole world, but Im now in the market to buy a camera. Im lucky to have seen that the XL2 was coming out before I bought my camera... im now looking forward to buying this new canon movie maker!

To those of you who have experience and knowledge of these things, what do you think will be the best price I can get for the XL2 when it comes out (whole kit, not just body)? And will waiting just a month after it comes out make any difference in the price?

Thanks,

If the XL1 was a valid precedent, ther wil be no sigificant discount for the first few weeks, waiting a couple months and you should see the street price drop to a bit under $4000, and in four months or so is should drop to around $3700 from the MSRP of $4990. In 6 months it should reach the street price of the XL1s just before the rebates started. Given the competition from the PD170, it could drop a bit faster and lower.

However, if I really could predict these sorts fo things with any accuracy, I would be making a killing on the stock market, not spending time lurking here.

Retail price will remain high until after the holidays. Some merchants will have the camera for a few hundred dollars off. I would not expect a greater discount than that from legitimate dealers. Be wary of the big discounts that unscrupulous sellers will advertise.
