How to clan gain problems?

I recently bought the XL2 and on my last project the camera went just crazy. Acording to Canon I have problems with gain stock in hi, in any case the picture is bad with a lot of noise on the video. The question is does any body knows where to find a plugin to clean up some of that noise. Hope that I'm posting on the right place. Any help would be greatly apreciated.
by the way the camera is with canon for the last 10 days, waiting to hear from them.

Hi Mike. What editing software are you using? There is a free plugin for Vegas that is based on a virtualdub filter, you can get it at http://mikecrash.wz.cz/

Also, Procoder has a temporal noise reduction filter that might help. Of course, it all depends on how bad the noise is. When I let my XL2 put the gain at max it was pretty bad. Now I try to keep it at 6dB or below.

Hi Richard, I'm using Premier Pro. The problem is not that I left the gain up but rather that the camera is recording that poorlyb as if gain was up very hi. Any way canon has it . My dilema is now how to fix the sweet 16 that I recorded.

Hi Mike. You could check out the link below, it shows what can be achieved with one of the virtualdub filters that are available. Since virtualdub is free, there is no harm in downloading it and trying out one of these noise reduction filters on a portion of your video. You can then decide whether the results are worth the effort or not.

The second link is a guide to video cleaning using free software tools.
