Keeping tape in camera
Is there any reason why any of you believe that leaving the tape in the camera is a bad idea after shooting for the day?
Does Canon recomend removing tape. I do not see anything in manual. |
See the manual, page 112 under Cassette Handling Precautions: "Do not leave the cassette in the camcorder after use." Having a tape in for an extended period of time (like, say, a couple of weeks) puts tension on tiny little springs and whatnot on the inside; eventually wearing out the transport mechanism.

I think there is a tape consideration that would lead you to remove the tape after shooting also. Any temperature change may lead to tape stretch on the threaded portion of the tape.

Thanks Chris, I missed that in the manual. Sorry....

A few days is okay... a week... but any extended period of storage, or non-usage, the tape should be taken out.

Chris,
Do you have the manual memorised in every language it comes in? When do you find the time to play with your toys? JK. I went and took my tape out the second I read that. He he. |
Hi Cleveland,
<< Do you have the manual memorised in every language it comes in? >> No. I have it memorized only in English, German and Portuguese. << When do you find the time to play with your toys? >> Usually right before bedtime -- helps me fall asleep. |
Too much information Chris... just too much.
