Cinelook from Italy
Hi everybody!
Finally I can post my first test about Canon XL2 Cinelook... It's a kind of tribute to David Lynch... I shooted in countryside a very bad and cloudly day, with 20x lens, manual focus, flat cine settings, PAL 25p, widescreen. Then I edited it in Premiere Pro 1.5 using Magic Bullet Editors to correct the color. No any kind of grain settings. Here many Americans can read my post: I love the look and the feeling of US movies; I'm not speaking about themes and stories, but only about Photography and color correction. I think US movies have a fantastic image impact. In Italy there are several beautifull movies, wonderfull stories (life isi beautifull...) but our images are poor, flat. I'm saying that, to introduce my test: I tried to simulate as I can as it's possible these american images. I'd like to read your impression, critic and feelings. Thanks everybody. Looks like you used two settings from Magic Bullet.
Some desaturation setting and a brown one. Very Nice! |
No other replies?!...
I'm curious to know what you think... thanks |
Hi Michele,
Your footage looks realy good! I realy like the colors you used. It sets a beautifull tone. I'm also a big fan of color grading. I correct every project I make. My thought about it is that you can set a final mood with colors. And that's why I use it. My inspiration comes from french movies, such as Amelie and Vidocq. Also the Lord of the Rings is a very good example. Take a look at the making of. I believe you find it on on of the special edition DVD's. There's a whole chapter about Digital Grading. I'm currently doing manual color grading in Discreet Combustion. Because you have the tools of the high-end machines such as Flame and Inferno. The reason I use Combustion is that I want total control and because I mainly do leader packages at work. But for a long movie, the best solution is Magic Bullet, cause you can use it in Premiere. I saw Lustre at work on the IBC in Amsterdam... talking about Color Grading.... http://www4.discreet.com/lustre/ |
Wells it's about time someone posted some Pal footage. It really looks great. I was stunned when i found out there was no adapter on that footage. It's really amazing and it looked like the image from 28 Days Later. Now i can't wait to get me Xl2. Could post some footage and maybe what the raw footage looked like?
