AE Shift Question
Hi,
I'm understanding my new XL2 pretty well so far. What a wonderful camcorder and beautiful res and color! yes it is quite a step up. I've been working with DOF all day. But, I'm having difficulties with the AE Shift function. I'm doing what the manual says: power dial to A, TV or AV and then turn the AE dial to adjust the levels. I don't see any change in the levels and I've used this function many times on my smaller Canon. Does anyone know what I could be omitting, or what could be wrong? Thanks again for any help! Also, is mounting a battery pack the best way to distribute weight because of the front heavy situation with the 20X lens? Are there other options? I do want to do some hand held/shoulder held work at times and the camcorder is too frontheavy. Lucinda |

Make sure that your Gain is set to "0" instead of "Auto." Try to observe the video output on a large monitor instead of the viewfinder. |
I do see the display indicator and don't know if I had the gain set to "0". I'll try that. I did observe on a tv and didn't see any change.

Chris,
Turning off the gain to zero didn't change anything. However, when I turned the diotropic adjustment lever it did, the AE function worked. |
