Xl-2e Pal

...should be 625 lines of resolution, no?

but on B&H, they list it as 530 lines.

misprint?

Perhaps, but probably not. Lines of resolution are NOT DIGITAL VERTICAL
lines as in 576 (in 720 x 576 for PAL). Lines of resolution are ANALOG HORIZONTAL
lines of resolution the system can RESOLVE (ie, how much detail it sees).
This goes back to the days of analog TV tubes (yes I know they still exist).

It only tells you how much detail a camera should be able to resolve. However,
I do think manufacturers list and interpret these kind of numbers in their own
way, so a higher number may not always be actually better.

In the end it boils down to a couple of things:

- the right camera for the job
- the money you have to spend
- how the camera feels in your hands
- whether you like the look / sharpness that comes from the amera
- whether you need the camera at that particular point in time

Hope that explained things a bit.
