Re: How To Maximize XL2 in today's HD world

I still use my XL1, XL1S, and XL2 for sports and interviews. I use it to video the bride getting ready at weddings, since high-definition close-ups of face just shows so clearly the blemishes on face (blackheads, tiny pimples, red spots, etc.). Even the XL1/XL1S, which doesn't have native 16x9 framing, looks good when shot in 16x9 mode, and played via DVD on a BlueRay Player (almost all players nowadays try to up-rez it to near HD anyway).

I do have DSLR that shoot videos, just in case I ever really need to catch things in HD, but I haven't had a need for that yet, just an option that I've used now and then. I still get the oooohs and aaaaahs when I pull the XL2 out from the case and attach the lens and mic on it in front of parents, when I'm about to shoot sports (football, field hockey, soccer, etc.). That 20x zoom lens that gives you an equivalent of 840mm (on 35mm film camera) is just unbeatable for when their child scores that touchdown, or goalie. I usually get asked if I got the shot of their kid making the score, and when I say Yes, they buy a DVD.
