Capture/Newbie question

I did a search on this site and in the manual and could not find an answer so I'm forced to ask this:

I have footage that was shot with an XL2 in 24P 2:3:3:2 mode, but I no longer have the camera available to send the footage into the computer for editing.

If I use a consumer camcorder for capture will I lose the resolution, aspect ratio, 24P advanced, etc... of the XL2?

Anyone?

As I write this 11 people have viewed this thread. Somebody must know.

Hi Javier,

I don't know sure, I really don't, so don't quote me on this, but I think (not sure) that it should be possible. I think it has more to do with the presets in your NLE.

You can always try it?
Best regards,

You can use whatever deck you want to. It ALL comes off the tape as 60i because that's the mini-dv spec.

It's up to your NLE to understand and recognize that you have 24p advanced. You may have to apply the pulldown manually, or it may do it for you automatically. Check the documentation that came with your NLE software.

I used a consumer camcorder to capture the footage and it looks fine and matches with the rest of it (which was captured with a $4000 deck).
