Playing back tapes shot in LP mode
I see that that XL-2 can shoot in LP mode, but I'm having problems
viewing a tape shot in LP with another camera. Am I missing a tenchique? I can't find anything in the manual that will assist me with the problem. |
My understanding is that in order to view a tape recorded in LP mode you have to use the camera it was recorded with. I could be wrong, but I'm 95% sure on that one.

Gary,
From everything I've read, playback in LP mode is very reliant on the camera it was shot on. When recording in LP mode the tape is running at a slower speed which means the data/frame must fit in a shorter amount of space on the tape. Each individual camera will lay down this data in slightly different specs depending on how the heads and tape path are aligned. Best advice, stick to SP whenever possible, or plan to use your camera for playback in LP. Hope this helps. Kevin |
Hit and miss
My understanding is same. You might hit another camera that is compatible sometime, but you are mainly stuck with the camera you shot it in, or same brand at least...

Thanks for the explanations.
