Char Rec Feature

I'm using the Char Rec feature on the XL-2 and it's working well except for one thing. The words Char Rec blinking in red flash right in the middle of the screen. I definitely want the time and date stamped on the screen, but not the big red char. rec. Is it possible to take that off?
