XL2 Manual Focus Footage

Took some around the house indoor shots using manual focus on the XL2. Filmed in 60i, 16:9, all other settings on automatic.

Enjoy :)

Hi Connor,

What you are doing is called "Depth of field" in the cinematography world, and what you have shown us is a shallow depth of field.

What makes the XL-2 so amazing is its ability to display a shallow depth of field (Due to the lens and the iris settings)

Nice work though!

um i know what depth of field is buddy, but thanks for the post anyway. and i think you mean "film-making" world. since cinematography is actually just a textbook film-making term.

anyway, the XL2 is great, but I'd much rather have a HVX200 :)

Nice work Connor and great DOF. Just curious...approximately how far away were you from your subjects in the foreground?

tele macro

Hello everyone, I am new here. I have read so many of the threads on this forum, and it has been truely inspiring and a trendmedous help.

My question is, was this shot in tele macro? That is what my JVC DVL800U calls it, yeah I know lamo camera.

That is what it looks like to me, that you are very close to the subject, like how you would take photos of insects. Would be cool if this kind of DOF was possible filming a person, with the standard lense.

I will ask the questions I have been dying to ask in my question thread. This camera looks nice btw.

If you use the lens long (in 10x-20X zoom) you can get a tiny DOF with the XL2.
It is very easy actually. If you want to do a focus move you can do it manually or use the preset function on the lens.
