XL2 and DVX100 shoot
Hey peeps, I am a proud XL2 owner. Been using it with good results. I'm making a short film next week out in the California dessert. My friend will be loneing us his DVX100a panny camera. I have never used a DVX100 before and would love to hear your thoughts and tips on how to use it as my "B cam"
when im shooting with the XL2 as my "A cam". Any input is appreciated, thanks. |
I'd find Ash Greyson in the member list here and see if you can PM him on this. I own both cameras but never tried to match up the footage. Ash is a master at this from what I've gathered.

Need to know what you set your XL2 up like... they are pretty easy to match in 4:3 mode... a little harder in 16:9...

i have never attempted to use use footage from a DVX and an XL but i have heard that a lot of colour correction in post is the only way to really get them to look identical to the untrained eye.
like i said i have no experience with this but just going on what i have read from other threads. |
Hey Ash,
I think you posted this a while back. I had it saved with all the other pre sets. Bruce S. Yarock Try this for a DVX look... Gamma - Cine Knee - Low Black - Press Color Matrix - Cine Color Gain +2 Color phase 2 toward red R Gain +2 G Gain -2 B Gain +2 Sharpen -6 Coring +6 Set up Level -6 Master Ped -6 NR - Off |
If you dont have gain on, you can drop the coring as well....

Bruce do you have a sample any clip that you can share based on this setting?
Also, does the -6 sharp settings give the cam a nice soft look like the Tiffen filter? |
I never tried it.

Just did but it made my red shirt really red.

Yes, colors will tend to blur a bit, there is no sub for a promist filter.
