What consumer brand camera for capture/ review to save heads?
Can't afford to buy a deck at this juncture. Don't want to tax the heads of my camera.
What inexpensive consumer brand camera do you recommend that I can purchase to review video shot on my Canon XL2? I'll be shooting a lot of 16:9 24p 2332? Thanks. Chuck |
I use a Canon ZR200. I chose Canon to ensure tape compatibility because I've had some experience with Canon tapes not being read by Sony's or vice-versa. The added bonus of the ZR200 is that it also shoots native 16:9.

Im using a panasonic gs-75.
Mainly because I have it :) It doubles up as my personal holiday-cam. I wouldnt reccomend it, though. it is not that cheapo-cam. I think most any cam should work, but I would investigate Pauls statement about compability. Would be a bummer if tapes didnt play up. |
I use anything from the Sony GVD-1000 to lil' tinycams. Usually the camera with the smallest lens gets stuck with the duty.
The format you shoot doesn't matter. It can be 4x3, 2x4 or 16x9 and a half, at 24fps, 30spf, or 60fps dominating the server with a 133t frag ratio. As long as the playback cam has the timeless MiniDV logo on it, and your NLE knows how to handle the footage, you are golden. |
